back to another episode of Sativa Talk podcast where we have blunt conversations. We lock it, we lock, we lock it a lot. We like to talk about cannabis of course whether you are a vet, newbie or just curious we got you covered and we will get into some lifestyle and entrepreneurship as well. Today we are we are celebrating episode number 11. I need to come up with a different sound effect because I always do the prr prr prr prr but I'm gonna stick with what works. The number 11 is known as a master number because it is has its own unique powerful vibrations. Those influenced by it tend to find inner strength in times of trial coping with coping well with crisis and chaos. And number angel number 11 is one of a great prophetic prophetic did I say that right? Yeah, thank you, Wesley. prophetic and spiritual power relates to karma and spiritual awakening. And it also sometimes called the teacher number. So shout out to number 11. Let's hope we all make it to heaven. I'll try to make it rhyme and that's that's what we're gonna roll with today. All right. So today is very special guest I have here is She's actually one of the first people I've met in the industry here in Las Vegas When I met her she was madam E, but now we go for some respect on her name as Sierra on entrepreneur business coach life coach and yeah we're gonna put a pin there so you can tell us the rest but none other than miss Edna no sorry miss E. Carice I'm sorry what do you it's okay to use my government okay cuz I like it hey I'm here for it I'm definitely here for it hey girl I was one of the first people you met in Las Vegas Trulia so oh yeah when I yep yeah so put some respect on that right you're right yes yes yeah okay good times indeed and here you are you were in your boss lady mode yeah because we were it was a meeting about the radio who and when I met I was like oh she means okay I like it like it a lot but yeah glad you could take some time and come and be on the show with me. Thank you Miss Angie T for having me. Even though your experience with cannabis is uh... You know what interestingly enough I own a CBD company. Okay. It has a little bit of THC in it. Does that count? How much like point zero zero? First of all don't do this Angie T. Okay. You know what's interesting is that I used to be super anti-cannabis just cannabis, just being raised in church, like that's not you don't do you know do drugs. Devil's lettuce. Exactly and I think not until probably my early 30s my grandfather got ill and it was he couldn't eat, he was having some pain and I was like man I'm gonna have to research some options and so researching those options, like, opened me up to being like, okay, I understand why people want to indulge in cannabis for many different reasons. So not only, you know, people do it for recreation, but also, you know, for your health and wellness, too.
0:03:55
So that that changed my perspective a lot.
0:03:57
Absolutely. And that's what this podcast is all about, to just bring the information because it will for sure change your perspective. It doesn't necessarily mean you're going to be a user but you'll put some respect on the power of the plant. Recreational is really last you know it's it's medical first so but we'll get into that along with your CBD company but before we go forward I want to give a shout out and thanks to my sponsor the Business West Entertainment. They are in the business of providing entertainment on the West Coast. You can find them on Instagram at bizentwest underscore Vegas and tell them thank you for bringing Angie T back to the airwaves. I want to kind of get into the weed news real quick. This was kind of disturbing being that I worked at a cultivation so I've been inside of that and I did not know some of the dangers. Now I'm aware you know some of the product that they spray on the flower you know some of the maintenance that happens with it you're not supposed to breathe it in some of the cleaning products of course but the actual flower itself. So there was an investigation and from a death of a tremor in 2022. So basically the the dust of the flower triggered their asthma. They had an asthma attack and it sent them to the hospital right. And so it's actually saying that it is not healthy to be around weed dust eight hours straight in a day. I would imagine and not even being a person person working at a cultivation that you probably don't want to be around. I never guessed. I mean, yeah, I never. It still didn't. Because I mean, this could be a little ignorant, but whatever. When you think about it, it's an herb, right? So when you cook, your cooks around herbs all the time, they inhale it. So it's like, what's the difference?
0:05:45
We're not talking about parsley.
0:05:47
Well, oregano, cilantro. No, this is not what we're talking about. Oh, man, it's just like, it's just like me being in a space where there's even a weed smoke. I would imagine if I'm in a place where there's weed smoke for eight hours a day. It's not smoke. That's maybe in the consumption lounge. I'm saying in that aspect. Yeah.
0:06:10
Okay.
0:06:11
Yeah, I can see that. Well, even if you do not have asthma, there's a thing called occupational asthma, and it's caused by airborne particles of cannabis that could close out your airwaves. I did not know this. I'm telling you guys I was baffled it messes with your I'm sorry you get like an inflammatory type system with your breathing and it closes out and you could die so you're telling me that how many times do you cough a day and let's do three that's your final answer for real okay I count because why am I coughing? I sneezed twice yesterday and I almost freaked the heck out. I would imagine that it would be some sort of like respiratory issue. Yeah. Over time. Yeah. If you're not filtering properly. Well people don't tell you that. As a trimmer, as someone who's you know coming into work and just working on the flower, that part is not. So what
0:07:12
are you going to do differently now?
0:07:13
Well, luckily, I don't have to deal with it. But I'm just thinking like the people who are dependent on this money, and are unaware that they are putting their their life in danger. I would have this is the thing I would think to myself, like, hey, if I'm around this plant, and I have to put on all of these things, in order to be around the plant, that's the protection. So you won't bring any germs to the to the growth. That's what they tell you. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. That's what they make sense. It's like you put on these scrubs, so you don't bring in whatever germs or micro bugs or whatever you may have at home. So you're not bringing it to the grow and infesting the plants. I would say that it would go vice versa as well. In my head, I would be like, you know what, I'm probably protecting myself as well. Yeah, but I didn't think for it's just like wearing a mask. Yeah, well, you have to still wear a mask in the world. I didn't think for a moment. It's just like wearing a mask. Yeah, well you have to still wear a mask in the... I'm saying wearing a mask now is the normal thing right? So now... Child, you still wearing a mask out here? I'm not wearing a mask, but I'm saying wearing a mask protecting yourself and others. Yeah, it's the same attire that you're wearing inside of the cultivation. Did not. That, I've never... Now I have been around a plant before. I have been around a certain strain where it did make me sick for whatever reason. I felt nauseous. I don't remember the name of it. But I felt very nauseous and I was feeling lightheaded and I couldn't figure out like what was wrong with me. But I kept smelling. The more I smelled it I was like oh it's this plant. But so I have a question. So when you're working in the cultivation, are you high all day? No, you shouldn't be high at all. In theory, even see how that's possible. You can't smell the plant and get high. I can barely be in a space with someone but I'm not. I'm not a full on cannabis smoker. Yeah. I mean, there's no smoke. There's there's no one but if you're in a healing the just the smell of it nah i think we should test that theory i've been around it tested with me tested with me i'm gonna go to the
0:09:23
cultivation for like eight hours and see good night and see what happens next well there's actually
0:09:31
uh an organization that is forming that wants to um to to educate cultivation so they can then educate their workers. So that you guys, so this doesn't happen again. So I feel like that was it's called NIOSH. And so they'll come to you, even if you're operating illegally, they'll still come to you. I'm just hey, listen, even if you're operating under those circumstances, they'll still come to your cultivation. They are not whistleblowers. They honestly are operating for the safety of the workers.
0:10:06
You believe it?
0:10:07
Yeah.
0:10:08
Just like I, yeah, I do believe it. They are not whistleblowers.
0:10:12
They're not. That's what they said. Anyone who puts that in their elevator speech about their business, we are not whistleblowers. They're definitely blowing the whistle. They gotta ease your mind.
0:10:23
Because if you're operating a legal cultivation you want to know okay well maybe you know let me know if you're operating and a legal cultivation you definitely want to follow all safety protocols and every OSHA form should be posted on your walls in the break room that's all I'm saying okay whatever you say it you see okay here for it okay when I said it out loud. You just post this information at your cultivation. Okay, for sure. Reach one, teach one. Now change your social media platforms, your bio to say I'm not a whistleblower. Okay, please. Start there. Okay, so let's switch gears a little bit and talk about your CBD company. Let's not. Why? You know what, I, so a friend of mine owned a CBD company and um it was like when CBD was like super like big everyone everyone purchased all of the domains to you know purchase uh so that you can purchase CBD and um I she ended up saying like hey I can't do this anymore you win. Shout out to my rich friends. Okay, that was a win. And, but I think learning about the different liquids and flowers they use for CBD. That has been interesting, because like there's, there are some CBD companies that have CBD that doesn't have THC, but they or they will have THC and they don't list it. So I think that CBD has been, it's kind of been a little bit of an issue with some companies, not mine, thankfully, but I think that the challenge has been you as a person who doesn't smoke cannabis, right, let's just say hypothetically, Angie, you know cannabis in your system but you have this neat element that you need, you know, some care for you want to utilize CBD as a natural way to treat it. And now you're getting a new job, you take a drug test, boom, THC is because THC is in most CBD liquids or pills or whatever form that you're taking it. And so I would just say those of you who do exercise, you know, CBD usage, like make sure that it doesn't have THC and then two I think I don't know I think I kind of want to go into straight cannabis from the CBD space like selling it or me like a cultivation or being part of a I think, I don't know, so expensive. I'm sure it is. So I've heard some some black owned cultivations that are in California that are having some really like tough times. And I don't even understand this whole cash business thing. Accounts closing. Yes, I don't understand what's like what's going on. But I kind of want to learn more about it. So I can understand like maybe there's a different way. Yes, ma'am. Okay. Yeah. Yes. So and but that's why I look at the CBD company that I have is on autopilot. I don't even have to touch it. Is it gummies? Is it liquid? There's several things. There's drops. There's like different liquid pills. There are there's a you can buy like pre-rolls like you can purchase whatever you whatever you choose but there is a 1.5% THC so the CBD pre-rolls always crack me up because it's like when you just trying to look cool at this point I don't even think it's that the drops listen the first time I purchased a CBD a CBD pre-roll joint what do we call this what is it it was a joint was a raw paper. What do we call that? I call them joints. Okay, joint. Okay. Okay, it was a CBD joint. Okay, so I was real thug. I went to go purchase that from the dispensary, which probably I probably were looking at me a little weird. But I don't remember something. It was something like I hurt myself or something. And I was like, like, let me go to get a CBD thing. Because I did. I just was like, let me just smoke it because I don't really want to take a pill because I feel like when you ingest things, they just stay there too long and I didn't know how it was going to go. So it wasn't terrible. I mean, I wasn't trying to be like I wasn't trying to do the long stroke. Yeah, you know, when I'm the long puff, let me do an honorable mention that 90% of the dispensaries and I'm using air quotations for those that are listening located downtown or do not sell a THC at all they are it's those are the ones that I purchased. Yeah yeah so if that's what you're looking for I mean of course CBD definitely has it. I was definitely not just looking for that. Oh you wasn't? No because I was I wasn't I didn't know what I was looking for. You know they were very knowledgeable. Okay. And I think that they just didn't want me to be hella high just trying to figure out how I'm going to, you know, cure my ailment, yeah, or deal with the pain or whatever I was experiencing. So I like CBD plays its part. Like you said, if you have, you know, your knees or inflammation, or you have a depression, or you have like, whatever it is that you're trying to deal with, it definitely goes right in. And it doesn't it isn't like something that you feel you don't get the high element you just get the medical benefits of it so unless there's more THC in it than.001. So when my grandmother was ill my sister used my cannabis oil on her like on her legs like to you know like give her ease like ease her through pain and things like things like that I definitely think that she was high.
0:16:27
And my girl in the oil.
0:16:29
Yes. And this was CBD oil. It was CBD oil. It was mine.
0:16:33
It was.
0:16:34
Oh, okay. Yeah. Okay. So I don't know.
0:16:38
I feel like it's a little bit more. I feel like you just told on your company. You told us it didn't have to. No, no, no. I said it has 1.5. I did say that. Okay, run it back. Okay. Let's Leslie run it back. But no, I had one point. It has 1.5. But I'm like 1.5 like you should barely know that in theory yeah but I don't know shout the grannies out there getting high appreciate you take the edge off just saying so amongst having a CBD company are you still DJing or I do I am DJing I enjoy that I'm so surprised so surprised that you did that. Oh, because even when I first met you, you was not like outside like that you may pop out. But after the pandemic, it was like, where's he? I gotta call you and schedule something in public. So the airflow is going the grass. Yes, I've been DJing for, you know, some of our partners who sponsor, you know, the radio station that I own. So that's, that's been happening. Most of those events are outside. But you know what, I'm just being cautious when it comes to being in spaces, because we still literally have a pandemic going right now. And there's several illnesses, not just one that we were concerned with. Listen OCD, go back to DJing. How do you like it? I'm DJing, I'm saying, you just gotta, you know, I'm outside. Your experience, so you... I don't, I don't prefer to DJ. I prefer to have my staff DJ. If I'm requested, then I'll DJ. And I'll say this, I am NOT the best DJ in the world. But I will be extremely entertaining. And you know, there's plenty of DJs that are spectacular. I just happen to win some awards for that. For being the best DJ. Oh, I love that. You know, in Las Vegas. Let's talk about it. Let's Okay, what was one of the awards that you got? I did win DJ of the Year from the Pride, Las Vegas Pride, and that was pretty cool. Yeah. There were some tough people in those categories and I didn't even vote for myself. I voted for, actually voted for DJ Kelly J. Because I think that Kelly J is dope. But I just happened to win. And I think that sometimes you have a Sometimes some things are popularity contest like I would never vote for myself as the best DJ, but I won. Okay, that's great Winners win Best believe I'm rolling over it renews every day at 12 12 or 1 mg t But no, I think like I said, I think that is really cool How you just kind of you transferred over but we can back up a second you do own a radio station. So you own this radio station and you train the people. That's why I said like a life coach slash business coach because you are helping people. How do you juggle all this? And it's, you know, the staff, the host, like they are just so supportive with each other. It's even beyond, you know, being supportive of me, you know, they support one another, they encourage each other. And, you know, I give them feedback on things that, you know, we can improve. I don't have a problem with taking a risk at trying different shows and things like that. But but particularly, the message that we all want to get out to people who are black and brown people is what you know, is important to me. And that's what we do at the radio station. Okay, all right. Do you still do your coaching? Or is it just I do have some consulting clients? Yes. But are you like, I delegate most of those because it's that that could be a lot It's but it used to be very time-consuming So I'll have a couple of them that I'll I'll take you know throughout the month But other than that, I just delegate them quick Jim get some friends who coach it just falls off And take them to lunch yeah, you can buy them some food and then they'll tell you everything you need to know They'll say something where you can apply to your life. I like it. Okay, so we mentioned we talked about your CBD company, your radio station, your business coaching and DJing. So as far as being a businesswoman as a whole in Las Vegas, because I feel like Vegas, it's still growing, but you're born and raised here, right? Correct. Okay, so you've seen the evolution of Las Vegas. So I've heard you be brought up in in in rooms and you know, however you want to slice it, like, like I said, when I first met her, like, oh, she means business. And I like that, though, me personally, I like a person who means what they say, say what they mean about their business, they say that they're going to do something. If they're not able to do it, they at least communicate that to you. You know what I'm saying? I feel like it's effective, but to some people it's intimidating. So how has that experience been for you?
0:22:04
I
0:22:05
Mean me I do what I say say what I mean 100% of the time I think it can be challenging and different in many aspects. It could be challenging with dealing with People who want to partner with you and certain things it could be difficult with Personal relationships like you me being the person I am being so honest and so forward and just like, hey, this is what it is. It's difficult to, for other people to understand that that's true. And I think that's part of, you know, that's a challenge that some of us experience is so much capping, right? So much happening on and wanting to look like something. Right? Right. Absolutely. So I think that it's, it's, it's just be authentically yourself all the time. And that way you don't have to remember what you said, you don't have to pretend, you know. If you got it, you got it. You don't have to tell anyone that you have it. And learn to keep your mouth closed because she can hold a secret.
0:23:01
I definitely, I definitely can.
0:23:02
I tell stuff, I'll be like,
0:23:03
oh, you gonna tell me now? Can I know now?
0:23:06
All right, so, all right. What about like one of your biggest lessons as far as like being a business coach and being a business owner? When you started the radio, I mean, you wasn't a lot more unless you were technical? Were you? Yes, well, I have 20 years of experience working in telecom. So I definitely yeah, definitely worked with plenty of gadgets and things like that. But I feel like when you become an entrepreneur, your real title is professional troubleshooter. Like there's, I'm literally troubleshooting something every day for no reason, because I'm like, no one touched these mics since nine o'clock last night. Why is it that I need to, you know, recalibrate these mics or whatever. It's troubleshooting all the time. So I think, I don't know, I don't know that I learned any terrible lessons. I did take my time. I started off small and you know let things grow so I I think I did a lot of things the right way yeah and and that's not even just trying to big up myself I just know that like hey I was just telling a friend who took me to lunch who I spilled some consulting information to he's gonna be opening a shoe store but there's two options there was a smaller stores and it's stored as four times the size and I'm like hey you don't really need that you can start at the smaller store and then eventually open another one because I feel like you can become overwhelmed when it comes to dollars you know you do have to pay bills especially if you have a brick-and-mortar yeah and you have to figure out how that money is going to be generated so I mean I think for everyone take your time you do not have to be rich tomorrow slow but it will come race episode 11 it will come so don't you know don't push it but you if you need to get wealthy just do the work don't think that it's easy definitely you know difficult at times but you know come to you absolutely I remember when I was working a nine-to-five I used to call you like what do I need to do I don't want to work anymore. It's like, well, don't girl. What? And so that was then and now it's like, Oh, I get what she was saying now. Okay, got it. Yeah, my, my, my thing with entrepreneurship, I think a lot of people say, Oh, you'd have to have your nine to five, like I need to work a nine to five in order to, to make sure that I, you know, can take care of everything, but I think that you don't get to the bottom line faster if you're giving eight hours, eight to 10 hours to someone else. So take the make the sacrifices move to a smaller place, drive a different car or none or not drive a car. And you know, really get down to what you need to do and go hard and get to you know your angle quicker. Absolutely. Now I did see this article up here. Real quick I wanted to mention that the average median salary in Las Vegas actually went down. Over the last year it was about fifty seven thousand now it's forty eight as the median salary. So at this point you might as well just go for what you want. But what do you how do you think of the anyone who works for the radio station got gets paid more than they did before COVID. So I can at your radio station. Give us that is that's amazing. Yeah, wow. That should be why not? Yeah, no sense for everything in the economy to go
0:26:44
up and you pay your people lower and lower wage. That's absolutely
0:26:48
ridiculous. Yeah. What's interesting is I had a conversation with someone. They told me they was like, Oh, I don't know why you getting paid this much. I don't know why. It must be because of your look. Excuse, you know what, you know what, this is what I've learned. And sometimes because you look a certain way, you do make more money. And I've had to although I am extremely job, I'm extremely intelligent. Shout out to you know, the education or educated, shout out to all those things. But I happen to be fine as well. And it's a bonus. So reality, I'm sorry, but it's not the only it's not the only but you can but you have the ability to correct them. So oh, yeah, I am fine. But I also have all these attributes as well. So run me all my money. Yeah at the end of the day okay whatever your reason is doesn't really matter long as it clears we're good. All right so let me see is anything else that you wanted to do? Do you want me to get off? I just wanted to get off. I'm so proud of you. Thank you. In all things all your cannabis focus you know I don't know how focused you can be if you're smoking cannabis. Do you smoke cannabis all day?
0:28:02
No.
0:28:03
How many times? No, I haven't smoked in a couple days. I can't consume every day. And I'm going through a detox so when I smoke... How does it work?
0:28:12
Where?
0:28:14
It's going. I'm going to leave this.
0:28:18
Do you think cannabis is addictive?
0:28:20
Hmm.
0:28:22
It can be a crutch. But not addictive? No, I think that you could be addicted to using that as a means to escape, to get away, to feel better about yourself, but it's not like for me personally, I don't itch for it. Like not during your detox? No. If I want to smoke is because I want to have like a good night's sleep or I know I'm about to eat like a bomb meal so I want to consume as much food as I want to or maybe somebody got on my nerves and I was like, okay let me smoke take the edge off so I don't even think about it. But I don't, yeah, I like it. I like it a lot. I don't think it's addictive. We'll shout out to all of you who indulge. That's it. That's all I got. Insert judgment here. No judgment. No judgment. It's just not my thing. Well if people want to check out you or your station with your 3.6 million listeners or anything else you got going on, how can we find you?
